A retail company was referred to us because they were being charged over $17,000 in cancellation fees when they changed Payment Processors. Upon checking their information we determined that they actually did not own any cancellation fees in keeping with the Code of Conduct for the Payment Processing Industry. Then we discovered that the merchant had ignored court notices and a default judgement was issued and the money was taken from their business account. If they had contacted us before cancelling they would have saved over $17,000 after the judgment their only recourse was to contact a lawyer but the costs would nullify any return.
